Equality and citizenship rights in Lebanon

Newsday

Available for over a year

Over the weekend the Lebanese Foreign Minister reiterated on Twitter that Lebanese women who married Syrian or Palestinian husbands wouldn't be able to get citizenship for them. In fact, no foreign husbands of Lebanese women automatically become Lebanese nationals. But the foreign wives of Lebanese men do get a passport. The 麻豆社's Ben James spoke to two Lebanese women now who believe the foreign minister is misguided: Lina Abou-Habib (one of the founders of the Arab Women's Right to Nationality Campaign) and Hala Bejjani.
