In a remarkable medical breakthrough, surgeons in New York have performed the most extensive face transplant yet. Patrick Hardison, a volunteer firefighter who was badly burned in a blaze in 2001, has regained normal vision following the surgery. Still a an evolving field, it is the first time a transplant has successfully covered a patients skull and neck. Juju Chang, a journalist with ABC, tells Newsday about meeting Patrick following the surgery. (Photo: Results of the transplant surgery are presented at NYU Langone Medical Center.
