Fears 'Chemsex' could increase HIV rates

5 Live In Short
Contains scenes of a sexual nature.

Available for over a year

There are fears that an increase in HIV rates across the country is being fuelled by the so-called 'chemsex' scene within the UK's gay community. Greg told 5 Live that he believes he contracted HIV as a result of taking part in group sex parties where men alternated between taking drugs and having mostly unprotected sex. "You would generally stay at the party taking drugs and having sex for anything from 12 hours to three or four days." The Public Health England calls the practise "highly risky behaviour", and they say it puts those involved at greater risk of contracting HIV, Sexually Transmitted Infections and other blood borne viruses. That claim is echoed by the Royal College of GPs. This clip is originally from Stephen Nolan 4 December 2015
