The transgender actress, Holly Woodlawn - whose life story was told in the Lou Reed's song, "Walk On The Wild Side" - has died in Los Angeles. She was 69 and had been diagnosed with cancer. Born Harold Danhakl, she ran away from home in Florida as a teenager and hitchhiked to New York, where she ended up starring in Andy Warhol's films. Our arts correspondent David Sillito looks back at a life that inspired a classic rock song. (Photo: Holly Woodlawn. Credit: 麻豆社)
