What would have been your Christmas list 60 years ago?

Newsday

Available for over a year

Some of our younger listeners might write a letter to Father Christmas at this time of year, hoping he will hear their plea for a present or two. One such letter however, written around 60 years ago, never made it to the North Pole. Builder Lewis Shaw found the crumpled old letter, by a little lad called David, in the rubble of a old house in the town of Reading, near London. Newsday's Andrew Peach spoke to Lewis about the letter and what happened next: (Photo: The letter to Santa written by a boy called David. Hidden in a chimney for more than 60 years, it was asking for "slippers and a box of chalks". Credit: Lewis Shaw/PA )
