The Effects of Leaded Petrol

Global Concerns

Available for over a year

Lead was added to petrol to make combustion more efficient, but modern engines no longer need it. Andrew Steer of the Environment Department of the World Bank talks about the effect of lead in children in urban areas. What steps can be taken to phase out leaded petrol? Also on the programme the ethics of environmental journalists and blue-green algae blooms are under discussion with Geoffrey Codd at the Department of Biological Studies at the University of Dundee. Presented by Jill Neville
