The RSPCA has defended one of its vets for providing emergency medical care to a vole. The tiny rodent needed work done on its teeth but after they released images of it on their Facebook page, some suggested it was a pointless exercise saying it's likely to be eaten back in the wild anyway. Dr Siobhan Mullan is an expert in animal welfare science ethics and law at the University of Bristol and she said "in this situation, it certainly could be acceptable to treat the vole".
