Female conductors and composers breaking down barriers

Newsday

Available for over a year

Odaline de la Martinez from Cuba is one of the world's best known conductors. In 1984 she was the first woman to ever conduct the Â鶹Éç Proms - a historic moment in what was traditionally thought of as a very male-dominated environment. For a special Newsday series, Odaline has been speaking with renowned composer Nicola LeFanu. They have been talking about what progress has been made in breaking down the barriers for women in music.
