5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

‘Chirpsin’ and ‘paarin’ are among obscure new slang words that have “escaped into the wider world, according to one language expert. Tony Thorne, who is an expert in slang and new language, has told 5 live “new slang is being generated all the time and it’s more varied than ever, thanks to influences from such things as the internet and gang culture. In case you’re not quite up to scratch on modern slang, ‘Chirpsin’ means ‘flirting’ and ‘paarin’ means ‘insulting’. This clip is originally from 5 live Drive on Wednesday 6 January 2016.
