Mum, Ginta Degutiene claims she was ‘forgotten about’ in a busy London maternity unit. She was induced after arriving at hospital shortly after her waters had broken. But she faced a 12 hour delay before being moved to the labour ward. For most of that time, staff did not monitor the baby which was developing a fatal sepsis. In meetings with hospital managers, she says she was told she had been ‘forgotten about’. The hospital acknowledges that factors, which contributed to the newborn’s death, included the delays in transferring Ginta to the labour ward and in monitoring the baby’s heart.
