Red Cross in Madaya: People couldn't believe that aid was finally reaching them

Newshour

Available for over a year

The world's major contemporary war started the year with images of ancient brutality. The age-old tactic of siege, in Syria, apparently pushing some into starvation. Those pictures and videos of emaciated children reached us last week from one of the besieged towns, Madaya. Today -- a United Nations convoy carrying food and some medicine crossed front lines manned by pro-government forces and reached Madaya. At the same time, aid trucks entered two villages besieged by rebel forces further north. Pawel Krzysiek is with the International Red Cross in Madaya
