Writer chronicles media repression in Rwanda

Newsday

Available for over a year

In 2009, Anjan Sundaram taught journalism in Rwanda. He has encapsulated this experience in a new book - " Bad News: Last Journalists in a Dictatorship" - which is being released today. The book chronicles repression against independent journalists. We tried to contact authorities in Kigali to get their side of the story. But no-one was available for comment. Meanwhile, Mr Sundaram has told Newsday that questioning government policies can get you into trouble in Rwanda. He first spoke about one of his students: (Photo: Journalists attending a press conference in Kigali being held by main opposition leader Faustin Twagiramungu.
