The incandescent light bulb makeover

Newsday

Available for over a year

Most older light bulbs are being phased out in many countries because only 2% of their energy is converted to light, with the rest produced as heat. But researchers in the United States say they have now developed a technique that can recycle into light the waste energy lost by traditional incandescent light bulbs. Ognjen Ilic - one of the researchers involved in the study- has been speaking to Newsday: ( Photo: Phased out Light bulbs are pictured on December 7, 2008 in Brussels.
