The outgoing Chief Inspector of Prisons Nick Hardwick has told 麻豆社 Radio 5 live that he questions why staff at the under-fire Medway young offenders institution didn鈥檛 blow the whistle about the alleged abuse that was going on. Several people have been sacked and four people arrested on suspicion of child neglect, following the investigation by the 麻豆社's Panorama programme. Nick Hardwick told Peter Allen that blowing the whistle "takes courage and is very difficult". But he said that one of the sad things about the alleged abuse is that, for the young people involved, it "reflects a lot of their lives up until now".
