How many Kenyan soldiers died in attack by al-Shabab?

Newsday

Available for over a year

It's still not clear what was the scale of last Friday's attack on an African Union military base in Somalia by Islamist militants from al-Shabab. The Kenyan government hasn't released an official figure, but al-Shabab claim more than 100 soldiers died. Kenyan soldiers are part of an African Union mission, AMISOM, that supports the Somali government in its fight against al-Shabab. Newsday spoke to Ndungu Gethenji, who is a Kenyan MP and also the Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations.
