Yes, don't panic but the new Dad's Army film is getting its world premiere today!. Of course the classic Â鶹Éç comedy was inspired by the lives of the real British Home Guard, a collection of volunteers who were ineligible for military service due to their age or having a job that was already important to the war effort. But when the service launched, funding was scarce with no uniforms available and some men having to share weapons. Of course there were units based around Leicestershire, including in Rothley, where Roy Stokes from Mountsorrel signed up at just 15 years old.
