Newsday

Available for over a year

Senegal says it will become self-sufficient in energy and will possibly export gas to the rest of the world in the next few years. The announcement was made by the energy minister, Thierno Alassane Sall, on state television. It follows the discovery of off-shore gas reserves off the northern part of Senegal. Thomas Golembeski is the vice-president of Kosmos Energy firm behind the discovery of the gas reserves.
