The causes of chronic pain and how to separate it out from necessary pain response. The discovery and nature of a new supernova – SN 1999EM – 25 million light years away. Two pico-sats (satellites the size of a deck of cards) will be the smallest ever launched into orbit and will test micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS). NASA's Mars Polar Lander spacecraft is carrying the Mars microphone so we will be able to hear sounds from the surface of the planet.
