"Junk" Food Café

Jim Davis and Jo Hayward

Available for over a year

If you're someone who hates food going to waste, then get yourself to Fearon Hall in Loughborough tomorrow (saturday) an enterprising new café in Loughborough may hold the answer. What's being described as a "Social Food Café" is opening for business for the first time. And its entire menu will be created from leftovers...in particular, ingredients donated by supermarkets and food wholesalers which would otherwise be binned. Two students from Loughborough University are running the cafe with the help of members from the eco movement "Transition Loughborough". Their aim is to open the cafe every Saturday from next month onwards. But on Saturday (20th of February) they want to test out whether there's an appetite for this very specific kind of "junk" food. So Â鶹Éç Radio Leicester's Bridget Blair has been to Loughborough to meet the team as they put in the graft ahead of tomorrow's first sitting...
