What is a feminist novel and are women writing them today? It’s easy enough to name examples from the century before - The Women’s Room, Fear of Flying, Lives and Loves of A She Devil, The Handmaid’s Tale - but is anyone today following in the footsteps of Marilyn French, Erica Jong, Fay Weldon and Margaret Atwood? Jane Garvey talks to journalist and writer Rachel Cooke and Virago publisher Lennie Goodings. First broadcast on Woman's Hour, 23 February 2016.
