'Every state has the right to twerk'

Newsday

Available for over a year

The artist known as Big Freedia is well-known in the US for dancing using twerking and bounce moves. However, those same moves appear to have upset the authorities in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She was due to perform there in The Dollar Box Showroom but prior to the show the venue's owner received a call from local authorities threatening a fine if the concert went ahead. The reason? Sexual content apparently. Big Freedia told Newsday that's an unfair description by explaining what exactly bounce is.
