From a coma to Olympic gold & fighting crime

Sportsworld

Available for over a year

Seven years ago, German cyclist Kristina Vogel was lying in a coma in her hospital bed, unable to speak and breathe alone following a crash in training. Her hopes of riding a bike again, let alone going to the Olympics, were seemingly shattered, but she never give up hope. Vogel not only got back on a bike, she became Olympic and World champion, winning gold in the team sprint at the London 2012 Games with Miriam Welte. When she is not on the track, Vogel is fighting crime as a police officer, although work has taken a back seat while she focuses on her cycling. Now she is back in the city of her greatest triumph, London, as she pursues more success at the World Track Cycling Championships before targeting more Olympic gold, this time in Rio.
