Queen caught in Euro row

Newsday

Available for over a year

There's big row in the UK between one of Britain's best selling newspapers and the Royal family. Queen Elizabeth's office has taken the unprecedented step of making a formal complaint about a story on the front page of the Sun newspaper which claimed that Her Majesty was in favour of Britain leaving the European Union. Buckingham Palace insists the Queen is - and always has been - politically neutral and is angry that conversations that supposedly happened several years ago are making front page news ahead of a referendum on Britain's place in Europe. The Editor of The Sun is Tony Gallagher. He's been telling the Â鶹Éç that he stands by the story. (Picture - Copies of Britain"s "The Sun" newspapers are sold at a store in London on 09 March 2016.
