This week, an American tourist to North Korea Otto Warmbier was sentenced to 15 years hard labour, after being convicted of "crimes against the state", for trying to steal a propaganda banner. In 2013, Gareth Morgan travelled the length of North Korea by motorbike, with his wife and three friends. They had to spend years negotiating visas and agreeing an itinerary with authorities, who accompanied them at all times. Gareth explains what first attracted them to this most isolated of countries.
