Newsday

Available for over a year

After two years of heated debate, France's parliament has passed a bill targeting prostitution. The new law makes it illegal to pay for sex. Those found guilty of trying to buy the services of a sex worker face a fine and will also have to attend mandatory courses educating them about the life of prostitutes. Newsday's Bilkisu Labaran spoke to Thierry Schaffauser, a sex worker and coordinator of the National Network of Sex Workers' Organisations in France. What does he make of the bill?
