Radioactive wild boars on the rampage in Fukushima

World Update

Available for over a year

Wild boars are flourishing in the nuclear exclusion zone around the Fukushima power plant that went into nuclear meltdown following an earthquake and tsunami in 2011. The high numbers are causing havoc for local farmers in the surrounding area, as the hungry beasts are digging up roots and destroying fences. Hunters are shooting as many of the boars as they can but, as they're far too contaminated with radiation to eat, they're causing a headache for local authorities trying to dispose of the bodies.
