'Joshua had an ASBO before boxing saved him'

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Boxing was Anthony Joshua's saviour, according to former European champion Spencer Oliver. Joshua, 26, became IBF world heavyweight champion in only his 16th fight at the weekend, defeating American Charles Martin at London’s O2 Arena. Oliver remembers when Briton Joshua came to his family's amateur boxing club in north London eight years ago. "He was in a lot of trouble. He had an Asbo against him in Watford and was getting in so much trouble. I know it's an old cliché - 'boxing was a saviour' - but in Anthony Joshua's case it really was." This clip is taken from 5 live sport on 11th April 2016.
