The "torture" coming from the musicians practising next door

The World Tonight

Available for over a year

One London family has gone to court to limit the hours the classically trained children living next door can play the piano. The complainants talked about sleep deprivation and said the repetitive practice was like 'torture'. The pianists can now play for up to five hours a day Monday to Saturday and three hours on a Sunday. Julian Lloyd Webber is a cellist who has retired due to an injury. Ritula Shah asked him how much practice he had to do when he was young. (Image: Cellist Julian Lloyd Webber. Credit: Christie Goodwin/Getty Images)
