Norwegian judge Helen Andenaes Sekulic has ruled that Anders Breivik was indeed subject to inhuman or degrading treatment. It stems from him being denied contact with other prisoners, speaking to prison staff through a glass barrier and occasional strip searches. The judge said even those who perpetrate acts of terror - Breivik killed 77 young people - should have their rights protected. So she ruled in favour of the human rights case he brought against the Norwegian state and ordered the authorities to pay Breivik's legal costs of 330,000 kroner (about $40,000).
