Ethiopian Jews hope to spend next Passover in Israel

Focus on Africa

Available for over a year

As Jews around the world mark one of the holiest and most important festivals in their calendar this week, thousands of Ethiopian Jews remain hopeful they'll be spending their next Passover in Israel. Last November, the Israeli government approved the immigration of 9000 Jews from Ethiopia. But until now the money needed to acheive this resettlement, some $1billion, has been the stumbling block. Now they hope an announcement by the Israeli government will pave the way for them to start a new life in the Middle East, reports the Â鶹Éç's Emmanuel Igunza from the North Western city of Gondar
