The fast and simple Zika test

Newsday

Available for over a year

Zika has been linked to rising numbers of microcephaly, a birth defect where a baby's head is abnormally small. Current tests for the mosquito borne virus can take days, but now scientists in the United States and Canada have developed a quicker and cheaper test. Newsday's Nkem Ifejika spoke to the co-author of the study, Professor Alexander Green of the School of Molecular Sciences at Arizona State University.
