Killer heels at work

Newsday

Available for over a year

British Members of Parliament are being urged to make it illegal for companies to require women to wear heels at work. An online petition was started by Nicola Thorp after she was sent home from a receptionist job in London's financial district because she refused to wear heels. Possibly as a result of the public outcry sparked by Nicola's story, the company involved says that it has now reversed its high heels policy. The incident raises serious health and equality issues according to Emma Supple who is a foot clinician from the College of Podiatrists in the UK. (Pic: High heels; Credit: Getty Images)
