5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Boxing pundit Steve Bunce argues that there is no such thing as a true amateur boxer in this era of the sport. This follows the announcement by the International Boxing Association (AIBA) that will allow professionals to compete at the Olympic games. Bunce said: "At the moment, [IBF world heavyweight champion] Anthony Joshua's chief sparring partners for his two world title fights have been two amateurs." And according to Bunce, there will be no amateur boxers competing in Rio de Janeiro this summer. He said: "Every single finalist in the men's division will have come from the WSB which is a professional organisation. The concept of the amateur is gone." This clip was taken from 5 live Sport on 1 June 2016.
