Why do many teenagers come down with 'ringing ears'?

Newsday

Available for over a year

Scientists are alarmed at the increasing number of children and young people damaging their hearing by listening to too much loud music. A study of school children in Sao Paulo, Brazil, found that more than half of 11 to 17 year olds there had suffered at some point from tinnitus -often described as ringing in the ears. One of the researchers involved in the study is Tanit Ganz Sanchez who works for the Sao Paulo School of Medicine. (Photo: Israeli youths at a silent disco party in Tel Aviv, Israel.
