Just a few months ago the world found out how the rich clients of the Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca were able to launder money, dodge sanctions and avoid tax. Among them were current or former heads of state. The story began with leaks of 11.5 million documents which were obtained by the German newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung. The two journalists who started the process of working through all this data are Bastian Obermayer and Frederik Obermaier.
