Grieving mum: Iraq soldiers 'more than just numbers'

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

A grieving mother says 'soldiers are more than just numbers' as the long-awaited Chilcot report into the Iraq war is published. Janice Procter's 18-year-old son Michael became one of the youngest servicemen to be killed in Iraq when his patrol vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb in January 2007. She believes that those who died in action were dismissed as "numbers" by some. "These are our children and they are more than numbers," she said. She added that she wanted a "honesty and "sense of justice" from the report. This clip originally appeared on Up All Night on Wednesday 6 July 2016.
