The Church of England is encouraging its churches to take advantage of Pokémon springing up on their grounds to draw players inside. Pokémon GO was recently released in the UK and is attracting millions of new players. The augmented reality game involves players finding virtual Pokémon characters in different real-world locations. Several churches have discovered their building is home to Pokémon Gyms which feature rare Pokémon inside. David Hallam is the Church Steward at City Road Methodist Church in Birmingham, where there's a sign that says "Jesus cares about Pokémon gamers." David said: "we found out that we're a Pokémon gym and the home of somebody called Pika and Voltorb." He added: "We've spent hours trying to figure out how to encourage young people to come to Church, and here they are now on our doorstep."
