Kedgeree, slithered and didgeridoo - children from nine African countries were challenged to spell these and other tricky words at the first African spelling bee. The competition, held in the South African city of Johannesburg, saw students competing against each other to find the top orthographer - an expert in spelling. The Â鶹Éç's Taurai Maduna went along, armed with a dictionary. (Photo: A contestant listens to adjudicators reading out a word he has to spell. Credit: Taurai Maduna, Â鶹Éç Africa.)
