Owner of dog seized by council: 'I'm deeply concerned'

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

More than 120,000 people have signed a petition to save a dog that was seized by Belfast City Council. The council say the dog is a Pitbull-type but its owner Leonard Collins says that 'Hank' is a "Staffie-Labrador cross". Speaking to 5 live Breakfast's Ellie Oldroyd, Leonard insisted that Hank is "not aggressive". "Hank is still a puppy. There are certain behaviours that we're trying to train out of him...things like barking at people in the street and jumping up and licking people's faces". Leonard added that although he is "hopeful" that he will get Hank back, he is still "deeply concerned" for his welfare. Belfast City Council have said the dog has been taken in for assessment and that no decision has been made about its future at this stage. This clip is originally from 5 live Breakfast on 23 July 2016.
