5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

The teenage brain is still developing the connections needed to deal with daily adult life, says Dr Kirstie Whitaker. Speaking to 5 live鈥檚 Chris Warburton, Dr Whitaker described the transitioning process from childhood to adulthood as 鈥渢ough鈥. Teenagers are 鈥渞eally creative鈥, she said 鈥渁nd they're capable of learning so many amazing things鈥 but might not respond 鈥渆xactly perfectly鈥 as they gain independence. Scientists at the University of Cambridge have used brain scanning technology to find out why teenagers go through personality and behavioural changes in adolescence.
