A former security minister, and former chair of the Joint Intelligence Committee, has said that the UK should not raise its threat level following the attack on a church in France. Father Jacques Hamel, in his 80s, had his throat slit during morning mass - with so-called Islamic State claiming its "soldiers" carried out the killing. Speaking to 5 live, Baroness Neville-Jones said that the current threat level for international terrorism in the UK - which is severe - is "already very high". "The level above is one which is only activated when you actually know there is going to be an incident", she added. "It literally says something awful is about to happen". Baroness Neville-Jones also reacted during the interview to a suggestion that security should be stepped up at churches in the UK.
