Why is Zimbabwe's Vice President living in a $1000 a night hotel?

Newsday

Available for over a year

There is anger in Zimbabwe over the fact the Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko has spent nearly 600 nights in the Rainbow Towers Hotel, at a cost of $1000 for his room and meals. Activist and Chairman of the National Vendors Union, Sten Zvorwadza told us it was 'irresponsible and selfish' use of taxpayers' money when other accommodation was available. The government says it owns the hotel and there is better security there. (Photo - Sten Zvorwadza, centre, is surrounded by police after he was detained following a protest at Rainbow Towers, Harare.
