Dozens of media organisations have been shut down in a nationwide crackdown by Recep Tayyip Erdogan's government in Turkey. The move comes as a purge that began within the military, the security forces and the judiciary after a failed coup attempt, earlier this month. One of the journalists affected by these retaliatory measures is Sevgi Akarcesme. She was the editor-in-chief of Zaman's English language edition until its premises were taken over by the government in March. She's been telling her story from exile.
