Military courts are used to try military staff. But in Egypt, more than 7,000 civilians have been prosecuted in military courts over the past two years. Human rights campaigners say there is no guarantee of a fair trial under these circumstances. They also say that the Egyptian army's power is being increased in order to target opponents.
