Healing the wounds of Vietnam's war with music

Newsday

Available for over a year

The Hanoi Masters are a group of northern Vietnamese musicians who use traditional instruments almost forgotten in modern Vietnam. They are reviving their country's lost songs that reflect the effects of the Vietnam war on its people. Their project has been documented in an album called War is a Wound, Peace is a Scar by Grammy Award-winning producer Ian Brennan. Now, the musicians are on their first ever tour outside their home country. Van Anh Vo is the music director of the group. (Photo: Hanoi Masters musician. Credit: Marilena Delli)
