The fastest man in the world to never run a mile

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Former Head of Conditioning for UK Athletics, John Kiely, said that Usain Bolt completing a competitive mile would depend on ‘how well he paced himself’. The record for running a mile is under 4 minutes but the co-founder of Letsrun.com, Robert Johnson, said there is no way Bolt would run a mile in under 5 minutes. Kiely said: ‘It’s not really a physical thing, it’s partly physical, yes, but it’s also partly how he’d handle the discomfort and emotional distress of this wall of pain that he’s not used to hitting him’. This clip was taken from 5 live Drive on 3rd August 2016.
