Following an uptick in online activism in Zimbabwe - with campaigns such as #ThisFlag and #Tajamuka which inspired political protest - the government is clamping down on what they consider social media abuse. Last week the army announced it was launching a cyber-war against what it described as 'cyber terrorists'. Now the government is proposing a cybercrime bill to tackle illegal access to computer networks, computer related fraud, and child pornography, among other things, but critics argue that its goal is to clamp down on dissent. The Â鶹Éç’s Hassan Arouni asked Zimbabwe’s Minister for Information, Communication and Technology, Supa Mandiwanzira, about the timing of the bill. (Photo: Â鶹Éç)
