Laura Trott’s Dad: ‘She wants to be a winner, but doesn’t count the wins’

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Laura Trott became the first British woman to win three Olympic gold medals on Day 8 of Rio 2016. She and the three other members of the women’s cycling pursuit team - Joanna Rowsell-Shand, Elinor Barker and Katie Archibald - took gold in the velodrome, setting a new world record. Adrian Trott - Laura’s dad - spoke to 5 live Breakfast about his daughter’s achievement: “She wants to be a winner, but doesn’t actually count the wins. She’ll just continue with that big happy smiley face that she’s got.” Laura’s boyfriend Jason Kenny competes in the men’s sprint final against fellow Team GB member Callum Skinner on Day 9. Adrian said: “Last night, in jest, his mother said, what sort of offspring they might produce – most likely a concert pianist!” This clip is originally from 5 live Breakfast on Sunday 14 August 2016.
