There are collapsed buildings across a wide area in the central Italian region of Umbria, following the earthquake which hit at 0336 in the morning local time. It measured 6.2 and the epicentre was close to the town of Norcia, near Perugia. The earthquake which killed more than 300 people in 2009 in L'Aquila, in the same region, measured 6.3.
