The woman who photographs surfers

Newsday

Available for over a year

Waves as high as hotels, razor sharp reefs and jellyfish stings...just some of the everyday hazards surf photographer Lucia Griggi has to avoid in order to get that perfect shot. Lucia is just one of a handful of women who head out into the ocean to capture those incredible images of a surfer in the middle of a huge barrel wave. But she doesn't much care about the gender-based status quo and comes back from epic adventures around the globe with amazing photos. She's been telling Lawrence Pollard about some of her most memorable locations... (Photo: Lucia Griggi at work underwater. Credit: Sarah Lee)
